Places of Interest
In Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte and surrounding areas there are a
whole range of events from clay pigeon shooting, wine tasting and the
D-Day landing beaches which are less than a 40 minute drive away.
The famous St Mere-Eglise is only 20 minutes away from us.
There are miles upon miles of other beautiful golden sand beaches
which can be reached within 15 minutes and are on the west side of the
peninsula. These include Carteret which also has an
internationally used harbour which increases the wide range of
restaurants and cafes from specialist fish restaurants to traditional
French creperies.
We are close to Nehou where the famous George East wrote his
books, many of the people and places mentioned in his books are in
Saint-Sauveur-le Vicomte and surrounding areas. George’s books
are available on request, they are light hearted and humorous and are
well worth a read.
Portbail hosts
many activities from sailing to sand yachting, it is a lovely working
market town with many restaurants.
Creance;
this beautiful curved beach is famous for its incredibly long tides
and sand dunes.
Pirou Plage is known through out the
world for its mussel and oyster beds, and has one of the last tidal
swimming pools.
In Cherbourg
there are many museums, an aquarium and gardens to visit. A tourist
train takes you on a guided tour during summer months.
Coutances is lovely town to visit, it is very historic and has a
very large traditional shopping centre. There is also a skating
rink
Briquebrec
is well known for its Monday market and town centre castle with its
museum.
Caen is an international shopping centre.
